With today's technology you can learn to fly with a desktop simulator.

You can begin your flight lessons on the desktop computer with a 60 in screen TV using Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 software at the cost of less than $50 and a computer that cost approximately $750 that includes at least an i5 processor from Intel and at least 16 MB of RAM but Microsoft advises that 8 MB of ram will work. Your computer will also need to have a quality graphics card. Additionally you will need a joystick that will cost anywhere from $15 up to $100 or more. The aircraft selection that you will be training on will be a Cessna 172 or equivalent and also you can concurrently fly the Airbus A320, but of course when you finally go and take a flight test for your private pilot license, flying the A320 won't help you much towards that but it sure is a hell of a lot of fun!
